ASSIGNMENT 1

How does copyright impede creativity?
Creativity is impeded when a creation of an artist is displayed in a movie or by some website without his permission.

What 'blindness' is Lessig talking about on page 6?
Here blindness means that if the creativity of an artist is unveiled then the potential of creating new ideas will be ruined. This blindness will harm the environment of innovations.

Why are costs of production falling?
The cost of production is falling due to the technology which can create and duplicate with high efficiency e.g. internet.

What, according to Lessig, does the word 'consumer' signify? Do you think that blog writers, digital artists and music mixers are strictly consumers of Internet services? Why or why not?
The word consumer means someone who is putting his efforts in purchasing unlike the publishers who now copy things, make changes to it and then publish it in a way others wanted. Blog writers, digital artists and music mixers sare strictly consumers of internet because it is much efficient and things can be done easily.

How does 'socialism' differ with 'capitalism' in the regulation of resources ?
Capitalism is a political and economic system in which factories, companies, land, etc. are owned privately in order to create profit for the owners. socialism on the other hand advocates governmental ownership. It states that property ownership should reside in the han of the government.

What defines 'free resource' in a society?
A resourse which does not need any permission before use and is neutral for everyone is known as a free resourse. How is resource production different from resource access? Production costs money whereas access costs little or no money.

What might be the disadvantage of forcing all resources to be free?
Even though free resources are important for innovations and creativity but still to keep the system in control all the resources should not be free.
